Deep within the ancient woodlands of the Symonds Yat Valley lies The Rapids Cottage, the perfect spot for those looking to switch off and embrace the serenity of mother nature. Relax in the bubbling outdoor bath, listening to the river rapids, the birdsong and the rustling of the trees.

The superior scandi style interiors are so enchanting you may just find yourself cosied up for the entirety of your stay. There are plenty of walking and cycling trails right on the doorstep, or perhaps you’ll want to try your hand at water-sports, fishing or horseback riding. At the end of a busy day you can enjoy some hearty pub grub at one of the local Inns and then sink into the family sized sofa amidst the warmth of the log burner. The perfect escape from the everyday.

Inside

Built in 1850, Rapids Cottage is a home away from home filled with rustic charm, equipped with all the essentials you could need for a relaxing getaway. It’s charming interior is cosy and inviting, perfect to sink into at the end of a busy day exploring. Breathtaking views can be enjoyed from both inside and outside the cottage.

To the downstairs there is a lounge area with a sumptuous sofa and warming log burner. The separate kitchen and dining area has everything you need for a peaceful night in. Upstairs Rapids Cottage boasts two gorgeously refurbished bedrooms, one king size and one adaptable king or twin room. The modern and sleek bathroom has a relaxing walk in shower, to ease the aches of the day’s adventures.

Outside

Enjoy your morning cuppa on the balcony, whilst you watch the mist arise from the river below . Embrace the full beauty of the natural surroundings and the breath-taking views. To elevate your outdoor experience, enjoy the glow of the festoon lit deck from the 4 person William Holland jetted bath. To use, simply fill like a bath, jump in and enjoy a chemical free dip in the most serene setting.

Observe the famous pinnacle of Yat Rock, the ancient woodland that encircles the cottage and the local wildlife. You also overlook the ‘Sex Education’ house made famous by Netflix. Barbecues and al fresco dining can fill up summer evenings or snuggle up in our private outdoor woodland cinema room. Enjoy your favourite film whilst you sit under a star filled sky (do not worry it is fully waterproof and comes with blankets)

Practicalities

Please note The Rapids Cottage may be unsuitable for the less able. The cottage is reached via a steep, uneven walk way and 30 steps from the allocated parking space. We also have a steep, open back staircase in the cottage. The road access and parking at the cottage is narrow, so please take great care when passing through. More details outlined in our FAQ’s

Homestay Includes

Outdoor 4 person bath, woodland cinema room, parking, gas BBQ, chiminea, Smart TV, WiFi, wood-burner, coffee machine, cooker, dishwasher, fully equipped kitchen, hair dryers, heating, iron & folding ironing board, microwave, shower, linen and towels. Please note there is no freezer or washing machine.

Family

Babes-in-arms and children over 3 are welcome. We have a steep, open back staircase in the cottage with no stairgate. A cot and a highchair are available upon request.
